Enjoy the Desert From You Cozy… Bus

Zimmer Bus – Ezuz \\ Map – Site  – Facebook

The Negev desert is, without a doubt, one of the most picturesque places in Israel. In the spring and early summer, it’s also a wonderful place to hike in. The scenery, serenity, and wildlife make it a must-see area when traveling to Israel. One of the more unique ways to enjoy this incredible place is in a Zimmerbus. It’s exactly what it sounds like: A Zimmer (a popular form of Israeli boutique hotel) in a bus.

Zimmer Bus

Zimmerbus is essentially 3 out-of-service buses, reimagined as cozy (and long) rooms. It’s situated in Ezuz – South of Beer Sheva and north of Mitzpe Ramon – on top of a hill overlooking the endless desert. It was created by Eyal and Avigail Hirshfeld, two backpackers at heart, who decided to turn their passion into a profession.

The available “Rooms” include “The Airport Bus,” “The Long Bus,” and “The Couple Bus.”  Each bus has a different design and aesthetic and a different back story (from its days of being a working bus).

The buses include everything you can expect from a desert Zimmer and air conditioning, bathroom and shower, WiFi, and even an outside BBQ and private garden.
Each bus has a small outdoor pool that is heated during the winter.

Ezuz itself is considered an “Ecotourism Village.” It has a rich archeological and cultural history and is currently home to only 18 families. You can go on hikes on marked routes or go on a bicycle ride through the short (10km) or the scenic (25km) route from your bus. There’s also a pottery studio, a goat and cheese farm, a small cafe, and the Ramon Crater within a short drive away.
