Israel has come a long way when it comes to tourism. Gone are the days of staying in a school-turned-hostel, and eating toast and quark for breakfast. Israel has embraced luxury, and is now embracing the next step – making it personal. These boutique hotels in Tel Aviv are unique in their atmosphere, take personal care of you and spare no amenity or luxury. Here are the best we could find.
Let’s start with the cream of the crop. Sure, you won’t have much left for souvenirs (or food), but we think it’s the best place in town. It’s practically brand new (opened in 2014) and it’s right next to Rothschild blvd, so you’re in the center of Tel Aviv. The former mansion has been turned into a spectacular building and the rooms are especially beautiful. The roof which is one of the best rooftops in Tel Aviv has a cool infinity pool and an unbeatable view, a gourmet restaurant, and excellent service.
Alma Hotel & Lounge // MAP – SITE
Staying close to Rothschild, in beautiful rooms, and not having to sell a kidney? What more can you ask for? There are only 15 rooms in the Alma Hotel, and each one is personally decorated. The rooms are big and colorful and give an urban, sophisticated feel. We recommend you try the in-house restaurant, run by chef Yonatan Roshfeld.
Lily & Bloom Hotel // MAP – SITE
Perhaps the newest hotel to open in the city (just 3 years ago), this clean and neat hotel is located in Lilienblum Street (get it?), so of course all of the interesting parts of Tel Aviv will be just a short walk away. You’ll be right next to the hipster favorite Abraxus North restaurant, and the hotel itself is a gorgeous place to sit and relax after a long day of walking.
Hotel Montefiore // MAP – SITE
The Hotel Montefiore is a taste of classic Europe in the middle of Tel Aviv. You’ll be close to all tourist attractions, and staying in classy, beautiful rooms with a view and lots of quiet and chirping birds. There are only 12 rooms, to make your stay private and the service personal.
65 Rothschild Hotel // MAP – SITE
You can guess the great location of this place. It’s beautiful on the outside and on the inside. The breakfast here is great, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options (welcome to Tel Aviv), the rooms are relatively small but well equipped and very cozy, and the location is unbeatable.
You don’t have to be rich to enjoy a boutique hotel. Take a look at Shenkin Hotel. The location is great, right next to the famous market, the rooms are brand new and stunning, you get a lovely roof to watch over the city from and there’s even a great spa. You’ll also be just 10 minutes from the beach, and the area is very quiet in the evenings. You will have to go somewhere else to get your breakfast, though.
This place is specifically aimed at art lovers (as its name might suggest). All 58 rooms are uniquely decorated with handpicked Israeli art from different artists. There’s a wonderful library where you can enjoy a free snack in the evening and all that – just minutes from Tel Aviv’s wonderful beach. It’s different and thought-provoking and we love it.
